The Breakdown Crew, our performance group
The crew is the studio's performance group for dancers 13 to 16. It is not a class and not a team that competes. A group of teens learns a set, rehearses it together and dances it for people: at neighborhood events and at the spring showcase in May. Duron and Layal lead every rehearsal.

A season
A season with the crew
Five steps, from the audition to the showcase.

Step 1: Audition
In April, a class with a few extra steps and two teachers watching. Dancers learn a short phrase and then freestyle for a few counts.

Step 2: The call
Dancers and families hear from Duron within the week, in person or by phone, with a reason in plain words either way.
- 03
Step 3: Learn the set
Through the fall the crew learns one set, a few counts at a time, on Thursday nights.

Step 4: Dance it for people
The set goes to neighborhood events, with a parent or guardian along for each one.

Step 5: The showcase
In May the crew and the teen classes dance for families in the studio.

Time
A Thursday-night rehearsal from 7:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and a few Saturdays before the showcase.
The extras
A crew shirt and a showcase piece, plus a production charge for the showcase. The how tuition works page says what each one is for.
