How do I try a class?

Pick a class on the schedule and book a time on our registration page. Wear clothes you can move in, bring water, and come a few minutes early to meet your teacher.

Which class is right for my dancer?

Dancers 10 to 12 start in a foundations class. Dancers 13 to 16 join a teen class, and a teen who has danced before can try one at a first visit. After the class, the teacher tells you which one fits.

What should my dancer wear?

A T-shirt, joggers or shorts, and clean sneakers that only come out inside the studio. Hair is tied back. The family policies page has the details.

Do I stay, and may I watch?

Grown-ups wait in the front room, which has a window onto the studio. The last Saturday of each month is a watch day, and families sit along the wall for the classes.

What is the crew, and how does a dancer join?

The Breakdown Crew is our performance group for dancers 13 to 16. Dancers try out in April after a session in a teen class. The crew rehearses on Thursday nights, dances at neighborhood events and at the spring showcase in May, and does not enter competitions.

What happens in a breaking class?

Toprock and footwork, then freezes, from the floor up. Power moves such as spins are taught only on mats, with a teacher beside the dancer, when the teacher says a dancer is ready. If something hurts, tell the teacher before class.

What are the extras?

The crew has a shirt and a showcase piece, ordered in the winter and billed before the show. The showcase has a production charge for each dancer, and guests need tickets. Sneakers and knee pads are bought by the family. We don't enter competitions.

How are photos handled?

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

What if we miss a class?

Message the studio. A missed class can be made up in another class of the same age group within the same session.

How does tuition work?

It depends on the age group, how many classes a week a dancer takes and whether they are in the crew. The how tuition works page explains each part, and our figures are on the registration page.
